The Cave of Doom (a 20 Second Game Jam Entry)
I decided to enter 20 Second Game Jam 2024. It was quite a rushed decision so I had to come up with something fast. I decided to do a version of The Caves of Doom, one of my favourite games from the early 1980s. I call this version The Cave of Doom.
Twenty seconds is obviously not enough to do the whole game so I made a, sort of, faithful rendition of the first and last screen and added a bonus screen for fun.
The game is controlled by WASD keys and the idea is to escape the cave and get to your rocket ship. To do this you must collect the fuel cans. Once you have enough an exit will appear.
You can be greedy and go for the treasure except you won't have enough time to grab it and get out of the cave. What to do? Well, there's the golden skull that may help. It will either kill you or reset the clock.
Reset the clock? But that's not in the spirit of the 20 Second Jam! True. The skull will only reset it once in twenty times. Will you risk it to get the treasure?
The game is VERY buggy. Sorry about that. I'm just learning the basics of game programming again. It's been 30 years since I last did any serious coding. Come back in 10 years time and I may be a little better!
